What is Mindshare?


mindshare; the amount of attention required by something, the time spent thinking about something

Mindshare LA was founded as means to elevate the public discourse and to provide a welcome change from the typical bar scene.
The brand promise is to service curiosity and to help provide a sense of belonging in one of America's iconic cities.

How did it begin?


Doug Campbell and Adam Mefford met as volunteers at the renowned TED conference in February of 2005. While sitting under the moon on Monterey Bay on the first night, the two discovered that abstract concepts mixed well with alcohol.

The 2005 conference stood out as a pivotal experience for both young men, and inspired them to challenge convention and seek meaningful connections across disciplines. When Doug relocated to Los Angeles he became roommates with Adam at The Brewery artists live/work community in downtown LA, which is where the first Mindshare events took place in 2006. Mindshare began as an informal gathering of outgoing people drawn from the networks of students and alumni from
Art Center Center College of Design,University of Southern California, California Institute of Technology and the Rhode Island School of Design.

These casual monthly gatherings gained momentum as more people enjoyed interacting at an intellectual level with interesting and engaged people from a wide range of backgrounds.

Over the years an amazing team of dedicated supporters have helped to make Mindshare grow from an informal gathering into a professionally-produced event with capacity for large audiences.

Values


Mindshare promotes a progressive variety of curiosity, one which is respectful, but not of conventions.

The brand curates experiences which target the whole person, body and mind, to find channels for seeding new ideas. Connecting people across disciplines while dissolving the boundaries between social and professional personas has been a happy side-effect.

The evening experience


The monthly evening event highlights inspiring presentations and performances in a lush atmosphere.
It could be described as a hybrid between a conference and a party. Crowds range from 300 - 500 people, depending on the season and the venue.

The arc of the evening runs from more challenging topics to applied creative endeavors, and finishes on more visceral experiences such as art or performance. We call this structure ‘enlightened debauchery’ and if you’ve been to one of our events you’d know why...

Who's invited?


Mindshare LA is a 21 and over event.

Mindshare is a social experience for curious and outgoing people. The audience spans a wide spectrum of ages and backgrounds, but two groups are most prominent; young professionals and second-career Boomers. The brand antagonizes some and attracts others.
